Great Hall

Right before moving to Israel, I was re-reading The Hobbit (for the nth time). I was inspired all over again by the Dwarven halls in the Misty Mountains. What did they look like? And, being so high up, what beautiful views did they have? This made me make this one of a series of "Tolkenish" works that I am still working on. The golden archway is, of course, part of my ongoing fascination with toridial forms. In fact, it was featured as artwork at Middle Earth Vault as part of their collection. I was very proud. This was the first time anyone had put a piece of my Bryce work up for display. :) This one makes one of my favorite desktops to date. 12/98

(If you want to know the exact part in The Hobbit that made me think of this, it is when Thorin and Co. first come out of Smaugs' treasure hall to the opening doorway of the halls of the Lonely Mountain.)
