In my recent travels I happened upon a quiet little bay where I discovered something uniquely local.

The Brown-backed turtles of Boshki-bof.

Placid slow creatures, they bob gently in the water seeking unknowns with those huge eyes of theirs. They are as silent as can be. Usually, one is ignored by their probing stalks. But, every now and then, a passing flicker of interest can be noted, as in this beautiful photo of their natural habitat.
